Ringside Media

Through its investment arm, Ringside Media, Ringside has partnered with five other UK-based scripted production companies. The aim of bringing these companies together in a wider production community is to allow each of them to benefit from the larger supportive international and domestic network whilst retaining independence from the more onerous obligations of a traditional studio model. The companies will also work closely with Newen Connect, Newen’s distribution arm.

  • B-Side Productions

    B-Side Productions are passionate about collaboration and great storytelling, and endeavour to support and enable brilliant emerging talent to flourish. They are boutique, ambitious, and value taste, talent relationships, and their ability to find and build bold, authored projects.

    Working with multidisciplinary talents, from novelists, to writer/performers, B-Side Production are developing a varied slate of TV and Film projects. Most recently, they have completed production on PRAY, a BBC Film and Warmer Music Entertainment backed short film from award-winning author, Caleb Azumah Nelson. PRAY is Caleb Azumah Nelson’s directorial debut to be released in 2023.

  • Fictionhouse

    Fictionhouse is an independent producing company, established by Dominic Cooke and Kate Horton. Their long and fruitful working relationship, which began at the Royal Shakespeare Company, developed into a celebrated partnership at the Royal Court Theatre where they were Artistic Director and Executive Director respectively from 2007 – 2014. Central to the idea of Fictionhouse is the Directors’ relationships with top writing, acting and directing talent, alongside their skill in developing and producing distinctive drama. Fictionhouse is developing projects with a range of artists, including Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA, Olivier and Tony award winning writers and actors across film, television and theatre.

    Recent projects include: THE MUSIC MAN (Broadway) starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster; GOOD (Harold Pinter Theatre, London) starring David Tennant; MEDEA (@sohoplace) starring Sophie Okonedo and Ben Daniels; THE NORMAL HEART by Larry Kramer (NT, London); THE NARCISSIST by Chris Shinn (Chichester Festival Theatre).

  • Furthersouth Productions

    Further South Productions is a Brighton-based independent producer of scripted television. FSP is currently adapting Candice Carty-Williams’s best-selling novel QUEENIE for C4 and Lionsgate plus two character-driven genre series for UK and international broadcasters. Alongside current production FSP continues to develop adaptations and original ideas with a focus on contemporary character-driven drama and comedy-drama.

    FSP is led by founder and managing director Steve November. Before founding FSP in 2019 Steve was Creative Director of Lionsgate UK TV and former ITV Director of Drama. Alongside Steve is executive producer Sarah Conroy. Sarah is a former Sky and ITV commissioning editor and Lionsgate UK TV executive producer.

  • Joi Productions

    Joi Productions (created in 2020) is a London-based film and TV production company focused on telling stories which are Black, Queer and Female-led. It was created by Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor (Screen International Star of Tomorrow and 2020 BAFTA Breakthrough honouree). In 2022 producer Tom Hawkins joined.

    Past films include Rapman’s BLUE STORY (2019) - the highest grossing film of that year in its genre and Aml Ameen’s debut BOXING DAY (2020) the UK’s first all-black Christmas romcom.

    As well as producing, Joy also writes and directs and her debut feature film, DREAMERS, a thrilling escape movie set in an immigration detention centre, is set to go into production in 2023.

  • Slate Entertainment

    BAFTA winning producer Hal Vogel is founder and CEO of Slate Entertainment, which he set up in 2021, backed by French international sales company, Newen International and Ringside Media. Previously Hal ran Daybreak Pictures, a multi award winning production company which he co-founded in 2006 with former Film 4 Exec David Aukin. Under the Daybreak banner, his producer credits include Justin Kurzel’s TRUE HISTORY OF THE KELLY GANG (Russel Crowe, George McKay, Nicholas Hoult), Peter Kosminsky’s THE PROMISE (Claire Foy) and Paula Milne’s ENDGAME (Chiwetel Ejiofor, William Hurt & Jonny Miller) amongst numerous other award winning high end drama.

    Slate is a London-based production company with a vision to create distinctive, stand out TV drama aimed at an international market but taking advantage of a strong European network of partnerships under the Newen umbrella. Slate Entertainment is committed to backing leading talent and developing event entertainment that includes drama, comedy and documentaries. It also has a very small number of feature films in development.
